I now sell antiques! [Mar. 2nd, 2011|04:53 pm]

...because lately my creativity has gone downhill rapidly, and the only thing I enjoy right now is buying, photographing and selling antiques. Especially the photographing part.

Victorian photograph album, circa 1860s-1880s [Mar. 2nd, 2011|02:55 am]

[feeling a little |quiet]

Recently purchased at auction with a book job lot. It's wonderful looking up all the old studios online and imagining secret histories of the people in the photographs. I originally intended to slice up the pages for art supplies but...I don't think I can. it's ruination is such complete beauty.

Radiant Sun - salvage metal and faceted Czech bead earrings

In addition to re-discovering I've been working with a lot of hammered metal lately. Quite a while ago I obtained for myself a small anvil and a hammer, and once you do that a whole world opens up and you start looking at every metal thing around you thinking 'can I smash it with a hammer?'

Recently I've discovered smashing Indian bangles, and Savers gave up a massive haul yesterday that intend to use (mostly) for earrings.

Dark purple and gold glitter for opulent opium den styles, wire-thin silver ones for savage barbarians, gold pierced mesh for 80s glam warriors, and pastel sherbet shades for my bridal range, which you'll hear about later.

I'm trying to get back to Livejournal- I do miss being here, those of you who know my personal journal know I have a habit of updating every 6 months promising my sudden return, only to disappear once again. I'm going to try not to do that any more. Though I have to say updating in the LJ code is a pain in the rear parts- all my images need re-sizing, rich text makes code all wonky...it would be so easy if I could just import my whole post from Blogger!

Shop update [Jul. 18th, 2010|06:54 pm]

Lily in rags- a delicate necklace of barely-there cream hues, like a ghost in a Georgian attic.

Photobucket

Life after Death - a statement piece as bold as an undertaker, hanging out in back alleys waiting for that next poor soul down on his luck.

Photobucket

Moocher- encrusted with gothic splendour, rake thin and sharp-angled.

All freshy listed today- go take a peak!

hello my dusty LJ! I'm sorry to have neglected you so long. Things have been happening big time in my world- I've recently changed my style completely and returned to my roots in more colourful, fantasy orientated stuff. It's all explained in greater detail here.

Anyway- here's some shots of what I've been up to!

I've also lots of things in the supply shop- changing style has meant that I've sudden got all these beautiful things I've no need for.

Photobucket

I've started making kits to put together your own sparrowsalvage style cuffs and necklaces and brooches- there are only necklaces left now but I'll put some more cuffs up tomorrow.

I'm off to England in 4 days and there's been a mix-up with the accommodation costs, so if you've ever thought you'd like to buy something from me...now would be a great time! ;)

the tides were in their grave [Jan. 30th, 2010|04:26 pm]

(Click on the pic to go to the listing)

The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave,
The Moon, their Mistress, had expired before;
The winds were wither'd in the stagnant air,
And the clouds perish'd; darkness had no need
Of aid from them--she was the Universe.

New work in progress

I was featured in Jeannine's lovely blog, Tangleweeds today. She's such a sweet girl, her work is beautiful, and she's said such lovely things about me!

yesterday was productive- half a wholesale order done, three things for the shop and I learned how to sew fingerless dress gloves that feel like a pair! I hope today is just as productive. *puts on studio hat*

What did you do today?
